Homelessness Impact Hub

What are we doing?

As part of Homelessness Australia’s (HA) Strategic Plan, we are delivering the Homelessness Impact Hub (the Hub). This will be a national intermediary connecting lived expertise, frontline practice, research, data and policy. We want to transform fragmented knowledge into evidence that improves services, builds community, informs decision-making and accelerates progress towards ending homelessness in Australia.

Why are we doing this?

With hard-working service providers struggling to meet growing demand amidst a significant lack of housing options, the constraint of Australia’s homelessness services is evident – homelessness systems have been designed to respond to crisis rather than delivering programs and system changes that prevent and end homelessness. By collating, synthesising and translating existing evidence and producing new evidence of what works to end homelessness in Australia, we can:

  • amplify the impact of homelessness research
  • support the sector to have greater impact in service delivery
  • influence policy decisions, funding priorities and service design.

What impact could we have?

The development of the Hub will be informed by extensive engagement, however we have given some initial thought to it’s potential impact. This impact pathway will be tested through upcoming engagements, but our initial thinking is outlined here and shows the different ways that the Hub could support the sector to improve service delivery though practical tools and resources, connect policy ambition with evidence, and ultimately improve outcomes for people experiencing homelessness:
