Women’s homelessness is a national crisis. The women’s safety and homelessness sector has determined that $7.6 billion is required from the Government over the next 4 years to provide long-term housing for Australia’s women. This investment would allow for the provision of 16,810 homes which provide immediate economic benefits of $15.3 billion and create 47,000 jobs across the economy**. (Equity Economics – Nowhere to Go 2021).
In 2022, our goal is to amplify the Nowhere to Go 2021 report and to have all political parties commit before the May election to a significant increase in funding ($7.6 billion) for long term housing. We are determined to put women’s homelessness on the agenda and further enforce our position that women’s safety is a critical issue for the upcoming election.
